Family liaison expert joins Medavia

FORMER family liaison officer, criminologist and child protection expert, Mark Williams –Thomas, has teamed up with Medavia to provide support to families who find themselves victims of crime and under intense media pressure.

The former senior detective has advised on some of the most high profile cases in recent memory, including the disappearance of Madeleine McCann and Shannon Matthews, John Darwin’s faked canoe drowning, Austrian Josef Frizl, who imprisoned and abused his daughter for 24 years, and the investigation into the death of Baby P. He is one of the country’s leading child protection experts, and an authority on missing and abducted children.

During his time in the police Mark was one of only 10 specialist family liaison officers. He has helped dozens of families through tragic circumstances, offering expert legal advice, shielding them from media intrusion and supporting them before, during and after court trials.

Mark now features regularly in the media as a broadcaster and specialist advisor. His television work includes documentaries for Sky, ITV, Channel 4, and the BBC, as well as an advisor on crime dramas Waking The Dead, Identity, Wire in the Blood, and Silent Witness.

Mark said: “I was drawn to the ethos behind Medavia; they have very high standards of professionalism and integrity. I look forward to advising their clients on all legal aspects from the moment a crime takes place to the completion and aftermath of any subsequent court case.”

Medavia Managing Director David Thomas added: "We're delighted and honoured to have someone of Mark's reputation and experience join us as a consultant. His knowledge will prove invaluable to our clients."
