The nation was gripped by the disappearance of 5-year-old April Jones from the Welsh village of Machynlleth back in October 2012. She sparked the biggest search in UK police history.
After neighbour Mark Bridger was jailed for life for her murder in Spring 2013, April’s devastated parents Coral and Paul Jones told of their heartbreak in the national press. However, they felt they still had more they needed to say.
Medavia suggested to the Jones’ the possibility of writing a book, telling for the first time of the full impact the tragedy has had on their lives.
Representing April’s family, we negotiated a deal for renowned publishing house Simon & Schuster UK to release an internationally-sold hardback, retelling the poignant story this time right from April’s birth in 2007 through to the present day.
Our senior writer Geraldine McKelvie has been writing on the family’s behalf, with trusted access to Paul’s personal diaries, which he began in the days following April’s kidnap.
She’s stayed in Wales to be introduced by the Jones’ to their close family and friends, establishing a deep and honest connection with their tragedy, and provided round-the-clock support for their meetings in London with the publishers.
Consulting with the Jones’ on every single word in each and every chapter, Geraldine has been able to give them a voice to pay the ultimate tribute to their daughter April.
The book, simply titled April, was released for sale in Spring 2015.
